These twin brothers reunited after being separated by Child Protective Services (commonly known as CPS) and placed separately with families whom otherwise mistreated them each as well. The foster care system neglected both Davon and Tavon who- like many other children abused by the 'hosting guardians' when placed and not overseen with attentive case management to assure a child's safety is preserved with every CPS placement- eventually aged-out of the foster care system at age 18.
WHY DO I SUPPORT THEM?
Some time ago I saw a social media post that circulated into my reel clips and posts that caught my attention; particularly when my daughter came to mind. For a period of her life- from age 9 through and to 17- she was being trafficked and abused by her mother, which was the third time in her life I was prevented from knowing where my daughter (who I will refer to as 'Valentina'), was. Shortly after she was recovered and in CPS custody (2017), though I sought and challenged each governmental agency and representative who interfered and or otherwise denied my paternal rights to be representative throughout the court proceedings as her placement was being litigated between her mother's family members and the courts. Of the advantages held against me was my name not being listed on any official document on-file to have otherwise identified me as the biological father of 'Valentina' and not the man who her mother is married to and who is presumed to be. Since 'Valentina' turned 18 years old in 2019, I seldomly and sporadically have been contacted by her from unknown locations via social media platforms.
If my name was on her birth certificate...I am only left to wonder if I could have been sought and contacted sooner to have prevented the abuse that was reported early throughout the years. To have been on an official document binding my identity to hers, I can only wonder if I could have removed her from the abuse.
These brothers are serving their purpose by being a voice for their brothers and sisters in the foster care system in the United States and around the World.
DIVIDED FAMILIES, SINGLE PARENTING, & ADOPTION ARE INCENTIVIZED OVER PRESERVING CHILD-AND-PARENT-RELATIONSHIPS.
Being present and participating in the 12-mile walk (starting at each State's Capitol) and having community talks with local organizations and supporters is our voice of support.
Meeting in the morning at the steps of the State Capitol in California on 2/6/23, we will meet Davon and Tavon Woods. Before we begin the walk, we will have a brief gathering to share why we walk for foster kids. The walk route goes Northeast towards SE North Highland.
